"Island Tabor" was a self organized event on which I presented a non-commissioned installation, created by my own means without any clear prospect where and how it can be officially exhibited. For this reason I asked the Czech-German Future Fund and the municipality of Tabor for official support, which they kindly granted. The closing ceremony was accompanied by a small festival of experimental music featuring: Jan Tomáš, Laure Boer, Jakub Šimansky a Tomáš Niesner.

The sculpture "Island" from Matěj Řízek was exhibited from 8th to 27th August.

An old tree trunk was brought back to life in the form of a moving sculpture consisting of three segments creating a hexagonal structure, which creates the impression of being a fragment of a much larger body consisting of an infinite number of recurring motives. The installation was placed at the square in front of the agricultural school where in functioned as a horizontal relief. During the closing ceremony, the sculpture raised interest mostly among children who pushed it around and explored its kinetic possibilities to the maximum. The sculpture was in constant movement changing the overall composition within the square.

In his work Matěj Řízek combines environmental and interactive elements with craftsmanship and a sensitive attitude towards the public space.
